Description: The text is excerpted from “Psychology As You May Like It” by K. Platonov ( published in Moscow in 1965 by Progress Publishers) and visually interpreted by Barbara Tetenbaum. The choice to use an East German typewriter, Czech industrial stencils came in reaction to the Soviet-era text. The project was inspired by a chance drawing of ideation cards that gave a kind of ‘recipe’ to jump start this project.

The Four Signs of A Real Work of Art is part of the Ideation by Chance exhibition in which artists set out to make a book based on random assignments from a deck of options. The deck was designed by Barbara Tetenbaum herself for use in her teaching practice.
